A walking tour from Ise to Kumano
The Kumano Kodo Iseji Route map

'Kumano-Kodo Iseji' is the path of prayer from Ise Shrine to Kumano Shrine.
Long time ago, pilgrims walked this path in pursuit of regenerating as seeing beautiful ocean, crossed over many hills and were received hospitality by local people.
Nowadays the statement of the path is changed.
Some hills have the same stone paved path as before, new roads, nostalgic small streets where you can relax…
However, this path still connects Ise and Kumano.
Why don’t you walk Kumano kodo Iseji as letting your mind drift back over pilgrims who walked this path for a long time ago.

Illustration Map Kumano Kodo Iseji is a map of the Kumano pilgrimage route Iseji, which is a component of the World Heritage Site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range", compiled by two illustrators after a volunteer group of Iseji fans (later called the "Iseji Illustration Map Explorers") surveyed the entire route on foot from December 2005 to April 2007. The map was compiled by two illustrators. We then carried out a field survey in 2019 and the results are reflected in this map.
